The Crossing – Original Acrylic Landscape Painting by Sabrina Walcott

A one-of-a-kind original artwork inspired by the Australian landscape and created from observations recorded during my travels in November 2019.

The Crossing captures a small oasis within the Australian bush, a place of quiet beauty, birdlife and reflection. Created using acrylic paint and expressive layered brushwork, this piece reflects the warmth, colour and atmosphere of the landscape that inspired it.

While painting, I became fascinated by the way shapes emerged naturally within the composition. Hidden within the landscape are subtle forms that viewers may discover for themselves, including the suggestion of a lion, a woman amongst the trees and an elder figure within the lower branches. These discoveries have become part of the artwork's story, inviting personal interpretation and connection.

The inspiration for this artwork was documented in my personal journal on 27 November 2019, where I recorded observations of the landscape, wildlife and experiences that influenced the creative process.
